Sin Papeles: Psychological Research, Service and Advocacy with Undocumented Latinos
Edward Delgado-Romero and the !BIEN! Research Team
College of Education
This presentation highlights the research and advocacy work of the !BIEN! research team, a team from the Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program in the College of Education. Founded in 2010 !BIEN! has focused on raising awareness (e.g., trips to Fort Stewart detention center), providing bilingual or Spanish language counseling at the Athens Latino Center for Education and Services (ALCES), teaching a First Year Odyssey course, and conducting research with undocumented people and their families in Georgia. We will review the work of the group and share lessons learned from our work.
The PORTAL immigration forum is a series of brown bag lunch presentations around immigration from multiple disciplines during Hispanic Heritage Month. Each session will feature faculty from UGA and LACSI presenting their research or service and then leading a discussion about their topics.
